Welcome to the Macquarie Group Foundation’s 2024 Annual Review, which reports the contribution Macquarie and our people have been making to help build a better future for the communities in which we live and work.
This is the 39th year of the Macquarie Group Foundation, and I’m proud to say it marks a record contribution of giving. During FY2024, $A67 million was contributed to 3,000 community organisations around the world through employee donations and fundraising, Foundation matching and donations, grants and social impact investments; a significant increase on FY2023. Together with our people, the Foundation has contributed $A641 million to thousands of community organisations since its inception in 1985.
The global scale of our impact comes directly from Macquarie’s greatest asset: our people. In FY2024, our people donated or raised a record $A19.5 million for community organisations, took over 1,900 days of paid volunteer leave and contributed over $A5 million dollars in skilled volunteering hours to support the causes that matter to them.
Our people support our grant and social impact investment partners by volunteering their time and skills, organising fundraising initiatives or working pro bono on projects. You can read about many inspiring examples in this Annual Review.
In FY2024, the Foundation provided $A13.4 million in philanthropic and impact investment funding to 54 employment-focused partners, each working to help people who face barriers to employment. I am delighted that this year our funding supported 1,300 people into jobs, with a total of 21,000 people supported through training, skilling and employment programs. We are proud to support our partners' work with job seekers and employers which can help change the trajectory of people's lives.
In addition, the Foundation provided $A1 million in grant funding to two aid agencies – Anera and IsraAID – both providing critical humanitarian relief in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. The Foundation also provided matching in support of our employees’ donations and fundraising efforts for the region, contributing another $A3 million in total in the past year.
Finally, I’m excited by the excellent shared value work across Macquarie’s businesses to deliver both increased social value and enhanced commercial advantage. The Foundation is partnering with Macquarie colleagues to integrate a shared value approach into existing business models and identify projects across all our operating and support groups. There are a range of impactful projects or concepts underway and I’m looking forward to seeing this shared value work progress within Macquarie.
I’m proud of the impactful work our people and the Foundation have accomplished throughout the year, helping to build a better future for all.
I hope you enjoy reading the Macquarie Group Foundation’s FY2024 Annual Review.
