Macquarie Capital, the corporate advisory, capital markets and principal investment arm of Macquarie Group, today announced the appointment of Oliver Bradley as a Managing Director focused on digital infrastructure.  Based in London, Mr. Bradley will lead the principal investing strategy in the digital infrastructure space across Europe, working closely with the firm’s infrastructure and technology teams.

Mr. Bradley is rejoining Macquarie having worked at the firm from 2005 to 2015, after holding senior roles in industry and with the UK Government. Most recently, Mr. Bradley was Corporate Finance Director at CityFibre Infrastructure Holdings plc, where he led capital raising, mergers and acquisitions and strategic transactions. At CityFibre, he took a leading role negotiating a complex deal with a leading telecommunications company to anchor a nationwide FTTP build, ran a large, transformative infrastructure debt raising process and managed a £540 million take private transaction, which saw CityFibre acquired by private infrastructure funds.

Before CityFibre, Mr. Bradley worked as a commercial specialist in HM Treasury, the UK Government’s economic and finance ministry, where he advised ministers on Digital Infrastructure policy and created the Digital Infrastructure Investment Fund (DIIF), which saw government commit £400 million, matched by private investors, for the purposes of providing greater access to commercial finance for Small to Medium Enterprise (SME) fiber network developers.

Mr. Bradley will focus on infrastructure development opportunities with both private and governmental partners, mature as well as emerging operating companies and other participants around the telecommunications and digital infrastructure markets.

“Oliver has led milestone projects and demonstrated the value of digital as part of the infrastructure ecosystem,” said Rainer Langel, European Head of Macquarie Capital’s Americas and Europe Advisory business. “His diverse experience gives Oliver a unique perspective and distinguishes him as a leading investor in digital infrastructure. We welcome Oliver back to Macquarie and see an opportunity for our infrastructure, principal investing and technology teams to work more closely in this rapidly evolving and growing area.”

Mark Bradshaw, Head of Infrastructure Projects for Macquarie Capital in the Americas and Europe added: “As the volume of digital infrastructure projects increases globally, we are seeing growing demand not only for our project and development capital requirements, but also demonstrable expertise in the digital space.  With Oliver’s appointment we see huge potential to partner with our infrastructure clients to make more of these highly specialised infrastructure projects happen.”

“Our collective capabilities as principal investment specialists in the combined technology and infrastructure space set us apart, and Oliver’s appointment and dedicated focus on digital infrastructure projects will enable us to really connect the dots between our teams of sector specialists globally,” said Larry Handen Head of principal investing and private capital markets for the Americas, Europe and Asia.
