Milan, 13 July 2023
Macquarie Group (“Macquarie”) has officially opened its new office in Italy, as the global financial services group marks the 20th anniversary of its first investment in the country.
The new central Milan office is located on Via Negri, above the Galleria Meravigli and near Piazza Affari. Its opening brings together Macquarie’s growing team of Italian-market specialists and underlines its deepening commitment to Italy. The office also highlights the growing range of services Macquarie is providing to Italian clients drawing on its global capabilities in asset management, renewables development, specialist advisory, capital raising, principal investment, market access, commodity trading, leasing and asset financing.
Macquarie’s Chief Executive Officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Paul Plewman said: “Over the past two decades, our team in Italy has developed deep relationships with local clients and stakeholders. With a growing team and activity levels increasing, Italy is now a key growth market for Macquarie – requiring a permanent home from which we can continue to grow over the years ahead.”
Since making its first local investment in 2003, Macquarie has supported investment across Italy’s infrastructure, renewables and real estate sectors. It has also advised Italian and international corporate and financial sponsors on some of the country’s largest mergers and acquisitions while enabling local clients to access global opportunities in financial and commodity markets.
The opening of Macquarie’s office in Milan follows a series of landmark investments by the group in essential Italian infrastructure businesses, including Autostrade per l’Italia and Open Fiber. Macquarie is also actively supporting Italy’s energy transition, including by developing and operating solar, hydropower and biomethane production facilities.
