2024 Mid-Year Global Economic and Market Outlook

As we reach the half-way point of 2024, Ric Deverell, Macquarie's Chief Economist and Head of Net Zero, discusses shifting the narrative surrounding the global economy from fragility to resilience. Despite much higher interest rates, global growth has been around the long run average over the past year, with that resilience likely to continue into 2025. Central banks in Europe have begun to cut interest rates. However, with inflation still sticky, and growth ok, he does not expect significant monetary easing this year.
