Our graduate and internship opportunities empower you to excel in your career. From full-time graduate roles to insight and learning experiences, we provide many ways to explore and learn about career opportunities with us.

Our Graduate Programme offers a learning environment designed to create our future leaders. We’re looking for the best minds to help manage, develop, advise, finance and trade.

Your career development starts with a tailored orientation and business group-specific workshops. You will then embark on a structured 12-month programme with on-the-job training, access to a comprehensive range of external and internal courses and the opportunity to build your business network.

Our Graduate Programme commences in July each year and runs for 12-months.

We offer a variety of Graduate Programmes across our business groups for which students in their final year of study, who have a track record of excellent academic success are encouraged to apply.


Our Summer Internship offers you invaluable hands-on experience and can set you up for a successful career once you complete your studies. Working alongside leading industry professionals, you will receive a structured induction, on-the-job training and networking opportunities.

Our Summer Internship Programme runs from June until August of each year for nine weeks. We offer Summer Internships to students in their penultimate year of study.

We have a variety of Summer Internship Programmes across our business groups targeting students in their penultimate year. 

Interns may also have the opportunity to receive a returning offer for the Graduate Programme, which provides even greater training and career development opportunities. 


Your deep dive into the fast-paced world of trading awaits you with the Macquarie Trading Academy. In addition to the training you’ll receive as part of the larger Summer Internship Programme; you’ll receive additional training on how to identify market trends, propose possible trading opportunities, and implement risk-taking strategies. At the end of the programme, you’ll have enhanced technical skills as well as the opportunity to be considered for our Graduate Programme. The Macquarie Trading Academy runs from June until August for nine weeks. We offer this programme to students in their penultimate year of study.


Our Insight Programmes provide an opportunity to explore and immerse yourself in the financial services sector and see first-hand how you can contribute to our business. You will get the chance to explore our business groups and the varied career opportunities open to you at Macquarie.

Our Spring Insight programme is held in April of each year for one week. Through various interactive activities and extensive networking opportunities, you’ll gain a valuable insight into our different business areas.

Our one-day Technology Insight event offers you the chance to explore a career in technology within finance industry. Our Technology division is a crucial and essential part of our business. It helps to develop and manage software that enables our traders to trade commodities - from cotton to gold - and manages our workplace infrastructure to enable our people to deliver on their objectives.

Through both programmes you'll participate in case studies and workshops, work shadowing and networking opportunities; as well as skills based sessions from CV clinics to interview preparation.

You will also have the opportunity to be fast tracked for the Macquarie Summer Internship Programme.


We offer off-cycle internships that give promising students the chance to experience one of our key business areas in an enjoyable and intellectually challenging way. 

Internships are available in different locations throughout the year and are designed to give you a unique experience in the financial services industry and Macquarie. Off-cycle opportunities take place in London, Frankfurt, Madrid, Amsterdam, and Paris and are typically 3 - 6 months in duration. We recruit on an ad hoc basis and deadlines vary by placement and location.

Sitting on the trading floor, you will work with our Trading, Structuring and Quantitative Strategist teams on developing cutting edge models and systems, using data to drive strategies, portfolio optimisation algorithms and sophisticated derivatives solutions.

This opportunity is a six-month programme.

In order to be eligible for this programme, you must be enrolled in a top tier master's or Ph.D. in math, physics, engineering, computer science or other quantitative discipline. You also need to have strong programming skills and experience with Python and data science tools.


Our Rise To It with Macquarie Programme in the UK gives year 12 students from low socio-economic backgrounds and under-represented communities financial assistance, covering their full university maintenance and tuition fees1 as well as offering hands-on work experience at Macquarie. Students who are selected for the programme will have the opportunity to build their networks and access valuable career development resources.

The programme entails an Annual Insight Day and an opportunity to apply for a week of work experience at our London office. Three successful candidates will receive:

  • A scholarship covering full tuition fees and maintenance loans1

  • A guaranteed place on our Insight, Internship and Graduate Programmes

  • Career development resources, including access to a mentor, hands-on assistance to set goals and objectives, and a tailored development programme.

1. The maintenance loan is capped at £15,800 p/y (largest amount a student can be eligible for in the UK).


The Junior Associate Programme is delivered with Macquarie Group Foundation partners to provide career access to social mobility candidates who are currently studying at a London University.  Through the programme, students gain valuable work experience by working with Macquarie two days per week whilst they complete their degree.
