Macquarie named a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality by the Human Rights Campaign

New York, 21 January 2020

Macquarie Group ("Macquarie") (ASX: MQG; ADR: MQBKY), today announced that the company received a perfect score of 100 per cent on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index (CEI). The CEI is the national benchmarking tool on corporate policies and practices pertinent to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) employees.

In 2020, the Human Rights Campaign rated a number of companies on a scale of 0 to 100 per cent for the CEI. Macquarie’s score of 100 per cent reflects its ongoing dedication to equality for LGBTQ employees reflected in its policies and practices, including parental and other medical leave and benefits and practices to support an inclusive culture for staff. Macquarie also received a perfect score on the CEI in 2019.

“We are proud to again have been designated by the Human Rights Campaign as a Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality and are committed to maintaining an inclusive workplace for our staff,” said Anthony Lennon, a member of Macquarie’s US Management Committee and co-Executive Sponsor of Pride@Macquarie, Macquarie’s LGBTQ employee network group.

“This achievement is a reflection of our ongoing effort to create a workplace where our staff are empowered to contribute and are supported by policies that reflect our core values,” said Rachel Palmer, Regional Head of Human Resources, Americas. “Although we maintain our perfect score, we continue to monitor and evaluate our practices to ensure ongoing support of LGBTQ staff across all levels of our organization.”

Macquarie was the first Australian-headquartered financial services institution ranked on the CEI. The achievement of a perfect score in 2019 and again in 2020 represents the commitment by staff and Pride@Macquarie who work to strengthen the company’s institutional and cultural support for LGBTQ employees.
