Macquarie Securities, the institutional equities and research arm of Macquarie Group (“Macquarie”) (ASX: MQG; ADR: MQBKY), today announced 10 new appointments to its sales, trading and research teams in London as it invests in core sectors and areas of strategic importance.

These talented professionals are highly regarded in their fields and bring significant experience from across the industry.”
Poya Bozorgi has been appointed Head of European Equity Finance, as the team looks to build on its varied and innovative product offering. Prior to joining Macquarie, he worked on the European equity finance trading desk at Societe Generale for seven years.
Macquarie’s European Equity Finance team is part of a global Equity Finance platform trading across various strategies, offering clients the opportunity to enhance their equity returns and giving them access to Macquarie’s in-house equity inventory.
Dominic Nash joins as Senior Analyst for Utilities. With 15 years’ experience in utilities, he joins from Liberum Capital where he was Head of the Utilities team, adding to Macquarie’s expertise in the infrastructure sector. Prior to this he led Credit Suisse's global utility investment team.
Jeremy Dibb has been appointed as a Senior Analyst for Metals & Mining, where his experience in the sector will complement Macquarie’s expertise in natural resources. He joins from Canaccord Genuity where he was a director in the Metals and Mining Research team. Prior to Canaccord he worked at Cazenove Capital.
Katie Ramsey joins as Vice President on the Electronic Trading Desk, with a primary focus on building the Electronic Execution desk for Europe. She brings six years of experience on the Electronic Trading desks at Nomura and Credit Suisse. George Sampson also joins as a Manager on the Electronic Trading Desk from Knight Capital Group.
Macquarie is expanding its regional electronic execution into a comprehensive client-centric global electronic solution, utilising advanced trading technology and infrastructure to provide a complete collection of tailored electronic trading tools.
Macquarie has also made appointments to its Sales team in London, part of a global team of over 400 specialist and generalist sales professionals working with the research and trading teams to provide global distribution.
Duncan Farr was recently appointed as Head of Financial Institutions Sales Europe. He joined from Nomura where he was the industry sector head for European Banks for five years. He will lead the European financial institutions sales desk working closely with teams in Asia and the US to offer clients a global perspective.
Joanna Thompson has been appointed as a Director on the European Sales Desk to extend the Macquarie European Equity franchise. She has extensive experience, having spent 11 years at Goldman Sachs in Fixed Income and Equities and eight years at Credit Suisse.
Awais Khan and James Stearns have joined as Vice Presidents from Exane and Cheuvreux respectively, covering long only and hedge fund accounts.
Julian Cook joins as a Director on the US Equity Sales Desk. He joins from Morgan Stanley where he ran the US sales team. He has 13 years of sell-side experience and previously spent five years as a US Equity fund manager at Royal & Sun Alliance.
