Q&A with Yash Jain: Driving innovation in Macquarie Capital

Macquarie is celebrating more than 30 years of growth and innovation in the United States. We are sharing stories and highlighting contributions to Macquarie’s growth over three decades by our people who made it possible.

Yash Jain started his career at Macquarie seven years ago as a graduate and is now a Vice President sitting on the Coverage and Solutions team in Macquarie Capital. As Macquarie celebrates over 30 years in the United States, Yash feels empowered by its core values of Opportunity, Accountability and Integrity, and looks forward to seeing continued growth in the years to come.

Talk about your role in Macquarie Capital and how your work supports the organization’s growth by differentiating us from our competitors.

I work in our software and services coverage group and spend most of my time in the mergers and acquisitions (M&A) space. In my day-to-day, I see firsthand how our service and product offerings give us a positive edge in the market. For instance, one of Macquarie Capital’s key business lines is its knowledge technology and services practice, where we’ve helped numerous companies merge or attain capital to create better learning outcomes for students.

We benefit from working globally with our industry partners across geographies, which has helped uplift the Macquarie brand.”

Our expertise aligns with market movements, and this is a huge benefit to both current and prospective clients. Together with our diverse capabilities and specialized insights is the ability to invest using our balance sheet. That’s a differentiator for Macquarie and really sets us apart from our competitors.

How has Macquarie empowered you and helped evolve your career?

Macquarie gives me as much responsibility as I’m willing and able to take. In the last few years, I’ve worked on deals with small teams and with our Co-Head of Macquarie Capital, Americas, Sam Shah, to carry out transactions from start to finish, whether presenting to a company’s board or negotiating transactions with other advisors. Those experiences are empowering — they encouraged me to take initiative as an Associate and a VP.

The past 30 years has seen rapid growth in Macquarie’s business here. What are you hoping to see in the next 30 years?

I think we’ll see Macquarie continue to provide innovative capital and advisory solutions at the forefront of today’s market environment, while staying true to our values. Clients value our unique brand because we’re consistently adding more capabilities and building our expertise. Staying true to our core values of Opportunity, Accountability and Integrity will help us continue to develop our brand and platform as we grow for the next thirty years.
