About
Macquarie Group was founded in Sydney in 1969 with a conviction that businesses can do more to contribute to society.
Today, we are a diverse, global business providing asset management, retail and business banking, wealth management, as well as advisory, and risk and capital solutions across debt, equity, financial markets and commodities.
We have a non-hierarchical organisational structure comprising four operating groups supported by four central service groups. Individual businesses operate within Macquarie's operating groups, working closely together whilst specialising in defined products or markets.
Within overall guidelines and a strong risk management framework, the operating groups have discretion in the way they manage their business activities.
Connecting the world’s capital with investment opportunities, Macquarie Asset Management combines a long-term perspective with deep sector expertise to generate positive outcomes for clients, portfolio companies and communities.
Delivering award-winning personal banking, business banking and wealth management experiences to approximately 2 million Australians, Banking and Financial Services empowers them to build, manage and protect their financial future with confidence.
Offering specialist skills and expertise, Commodities and Global Markets provides capital and financing, risk management, market access and physical execution and logistics solutions across Commodities, Financial Markets and Asset Finance.
A global advisor, investor and developer, Macquarie Capital partners with and invests alongside businesses, startups and governments to help drive innovation, unlock growth, address areas of unmet community need and create real-world impact.
The central service groups provide a range of functions supporting the operating groups, ensuring they have the appropriate workplace support and systems to operate effectively and the necessary resources to meet their regulatory, compliance, financial, legal and risk management requirements.
An independent and centralised function responsible for independent and objective review and challenge, oversight, monitoring and reporting in relation to Macquarie’s material risks. RMG designs and oversees the implementation of the risk management framework.
Provides a full range of legal and corporate governance services, including strategic legal and governance advice and risk assessment on corporate transactions, treasury and funding, insurance, regulatory enquiries and litigation.
Responsible for managing the Group’s financial, tax and treasury activities and strategic priorities, fostering our culture through people and community engagement, and engaging with stakeholders to protect and promote Macquarie’s reputation globally.
Brings together specialist capabilities in technology, data, AI, market operations, corporate real estate, business resilience, procurement and global security to support Macquarie’s growth.
The primary role of the Board of Directors is to promote the long-term interests of Macquarie, taking into account the specific and broader responsibilities to our shareholders, funders, clients, employees, and the communities in which we operate.
The Executive Committee is appointed by the Board and comprises the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Group General Counsel, CEO of Macquarie Bank Limited and heads of each of the operating groups.
Our key governance practices guide our decision‑making to meet stakeholder expectations of sound corporate governance and prudent decision-making.
Our approach to risk management adopts the ‘three lines of defence’ model, which sets risk ownership responsibilities functionally independent from oversight and assurance.
We recognise the importance of sound Environmental, Social and Governance practices as part of our responsibility to a broad range of stakeholders.
The diversity of our workforce is one of our greatest strengths, ensuring that our business remains innovative, sustainable and continues to meet the evolving needs of all our stakeholders.
