Macquarie Capital appoints Mike Turner, Senior Managing Director and Head of Principal Investments EMEA

Macquarie Capital today announced the appointment of Mike Turner as a Senior Managing Director to lead the delivery of financing solutions for client transactions in EMEA.

Mr Turner was Founding Partner of 3i’s Quoted Private Equity Fund and brings more than twelve years experience of origination, execution, asset management and exit management from 3i Group. During this time, Mr Turner gained specific deal experience across a wide range of sectors and geographies in Europe.

In Europe, Macquarie Capital has helped support clients across the capital structure, including:

• Capstone Infrastructure – A C$150m debt facility  to assist Capstone fund its recent acquisition of an interest in Bristol Water
• Pacific Equity Partners – Senior debt provided to assist with the acquisition of a 50 percent stake in the Australian operations of a Swedish personal care and tissue manufacturer
• Offshore wind transmission concessions (OFTOs)–  Equity provided to the Blue Transmission consortium on a “flex capital” basis to enable the consortium to bid for all nine available assets  

Mr Turner’s appointment continues the strengthening of Macquarie Capital’s regional senior management team. Recent appointments include:

• Raj Khatri joined from Royal Bank of Scotland as a Senior Managing Director and Head of Metals and Mining Europe
• Allan Bertie joined from GCA Savvian as Senior Managing Director working with Financial Sponsors
• Roland Shmidt joined from Lazard in Germany as a Managing Director
• Simon Wilde joined from the Royal Bank of Scotland as Head of European Power and Utilities

Mr Turner’s appointment is effective immediately.
